My First Blog

Alison Morgan

Well this is a little weird…I’m writing a blog!!?? Let’s call this page a little about me, a lot about my projects.

I have been talking about having a website for AGES; somewhere I can share ALL my photos of my design projects and share everything we did from start to finish. There is too much info to share that i just can’t fit it all on a social media platform.

So, for my very first blog, I would like to share with you a bit about me, what fuels me everyday, why interior design, did we really choose to have 3 kids, and the question i get on repeat, how do I do it all?

Lets start with why Dawson Creek?

People always ask what do you do in Dawson Creek and when I tell them I’m an Interior Designer they say, In Dawson Creek?…

I think outsiders think we all live in barns and don’t care about having nice stylish things. LOL

Ok, so here’s the scoop, I love providing Interior Design in Dawson Creek. The sky is the limit when it comes to the range of jobs and experience I am receiving from working here and being one of the very few Interior Designers in the area.

Some of the jobs I have had the pleasure to be a part of consist of Browns Social House, Bergerons Funeral Home, SKK Accounting, Bloom Family Wellness Clinic, and most recently Browns Chevrolet.  Also, the people that have invited me into their homes, it is such an honour and is something I don’t take lightly.

Now how do I get up and do what I do everyday and stay motivated to keep going with my crazy schedule? The truth is some days i don’t, I don’t have the energy, I feel like Im just rolling through my days, Im tired, and Im not enjoying myself, I am human too! Then when I have a minute i remind myself everything I have in my life…I truly am blessed.

This was my goal list when I was in my 20’s:

  • have my own business

  • own a VW Cabrio

  • become an Interior Designer

  • get married

  • visit my grandparents more

  • have babies

  • buy a house

  • get out of debt

  • travel

  • be involved in dance

  • be happy

I checked everything off my list and more…

I have everything I ever wanted, yes day to day we can get bogged down with all of our stresses… our kids are sick, my daughter who couldn’t wait to go to school doesn’t want to go anymore, we need a new hockey stick, I have to send in skating registration, did you order your son his birthday present, did they brush their teeth last night? OMG sometimes it’s never ending… but I thrive off crazy, I am always going and I love it.

I’m the type of person who walks around my house with my toothbrush in my mouth brushing my teeth AND putting away the dishes, feeding the dog or getting my kids their breakfast. I’m also the person who stays up too late and can’t seem to wake up in the morning early enough to have a sip of coffee before my kids wake up. LOL I am a multitasker, I love physically checking things off my lists ( when I remember to take a minute to sit down and write a list) I am organized-ish… I used to be better at that but now there are three kids and three businesses so that organization is tough.

I don’t like to say no to people or opportunities (I am trying hard to be better at that). Not every opportunity is the right one for you, but I tend to learn that one the hard way.

I have learnt to be fast and efficient with my life because sometimes there is only a 2 hour window that I have kids at preschool or a 2 hour window where they are taking a nap. I’m not always on time but it’s because I’m trying to cram my day and use every second.

3 Babies! Yes 3 Babies.. does anyone really choose to have 3? everyone thinks the 3rd is an accident or after the 3rd is born they think you must be having a 4th… NOPE just 3! I always wanted a big family because I am an only child and I had babies young so having 3 before I turned 30 was ok to me. I love it but yes some days it is a lot.

I love my life, sometimes I wish i could add a vacation home in Hawaii but we’ll see, I’ll add that to my goal list for my 30’s 😂. Theres nothing I love more then being pool side on a hot day, but right now we are working hard and reaching for our goals and trying to enjoy life as much as we can along the way.

Here are a few words I’ll leave you with, some things I try to tell myself everyday.

If people laugh at you when you tell them what you want in life and what your goals are, your doing something right! People who think your crazy for those goals don’t set goals and don’t know how hard your willing to work to achieve them!

Wake up in the morning remind yourself of what is important in your life and say no to anything that doesn’t fit into that end goal.

Thank you everyone for your love your time and your investment into me, my life my family and my business.

All the best,
Alison
